review 1: I... don't.... know. I mean, yeah. Awesome book. The writing was very different from what I usually read and it really kept me wondering how this was going to turn out. But there was just something about the part RIGHT before the climax that just didn't make ANY sense whatsoever so kinda threw me for the big finish. Overall, great. Not a favourite, but great. Brian Jame really convinced me I was in the mind of a schizophrenic, and that, my friends, would be a very scary, unsure, twisty place to be. A very convincing escape.
review 2: James's novel of a schizophrenic teen and the boyfriend she meets while hospitalized for treatment is spot on. He brings both Sabrina and her increasing psychosis to life, drawing the reader to sympathize with her and then slowly,... more insidiously allowing the reader to see just how ill she really is. Finely written - fans of Laurie Halse Anderson should enjoy this. Fabulous YA fiction with a unreliable narrator who enchants the reader. less
