review 1: Best for kids ages 4 and up.Early Literacy Skills: Print motivation, Phonological Awareness, Narrative SkillsFrom cover:Another inky evening’s here— The air is cool and calm and clear. Can it be true? Oh, can it be?Yes!—Bat Night at the library!Join the free-for-all fun at the public library with these book-loving bats! Shape shadows on walls, frolic in the water fountain, and roam the book-filled halls until it’s time for everyone, young and old, to settle down into the enchantment of story time. Brian Lies’ joyful critters and their nocturnal celebration cast library visits in a new light. Even the youngest of readers will want to join the batty book-fest!Inspired story and illustrations will have kids want to go back to the library for more. The illustration ca... morepture the playfulness of the bats wonderfully. Great reading for kids and adults. One of the cutest story books I've read.
review 2: My first and second graders really enjoyed this book. They especially enjoyed sharing their own experiences with bats—who would have thought they would have so many? I think I've seen one bat my whole life. At least they are being creative if they are making up their stories.I didn't appreciate the part about the bats playing tag and playing in the water fountains as much, especially as I am trying to teach these young kids the right way to behave in a library. If it talked about using your library voice and treating your books kindly instead it would be about perfect. It has a fun rhyming rhythm and cute illustrations. less
