review 1: I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.wow what an amazing book!! So many surprising aspects I never saw coming, absolutely can not wait to find out where this cliffhanger is going to pick up!!! I initially thought Addie to be a timid housewife eager to please Patrick, but was pleasantly surprised when there was a turn of events and she decided she wanted a career and more out of life than being a perfect stay at home wife and mother. That is not always an ideal situation some woman crave their independence and too be able to follow their dreams and their children are much better off if they are able to follow their dreams. I did believe that Patrick was a better man that what he turns out to be, that he was devoted to his family but just has e... morequally devoted to his career and being able to provide his family with the best money could offer. Yet, there are some many things that the characters will learn right along with the rest of the world as Addie's indiscretions are in the tabloids.
review 2: Bedrock is a book that started out questionably for me, but as the story progessed the plot ties together more cohesively and the character development flows. We learn that Addison (Addie)lost her parents at a very young age and was raised by her cold, unloving grandparents. An intelligent, ambitious girl, Addie goes off to college in pursuit of her dreams. She literally bumps into Patrick one day a falls in love. Though Patrick's family is not so accepting of her, he eventually asks her to marry him. As they start a family, Addie begins to question her place in the world. For the first time she feels she is a failure, not cut out to be a mother. "Time seemed inconsequential. The days dragged on, bled from on to another, all seeming exactly the same. Minutes gave way to hours and the hours into days then months. Addie wondered what she did to deserve this. She wondered why she wasn't good enough and how she could fail at something that was supposed to be innate. Who failed at motherhood, anyway?"As she feels the walls closing in on her, she struggles with her desire to return to the workplace, a place where she finds success and her identity. The turning point in the story is when Addison boards the elevator to her future...She meets William Hartman when enroute to an interview. The attraction is instant. William brings out parts of Addison that have lain dormant. When she returns to the workforce, she also meets a character by the name of Sondra, who introduces Addison to feelings of power, passion and strength; all of the things she has been missing. While wrapped up in her new life, Addison will find herself making some difficult and life-changing choices. We need to read the sequel to find out what happens next! less
