review 1: A gut wrenching, highly emotional thriller that I couldn't put down. The main characters, Bella and Alec, were tortured and damaged people full of guilt over the results of past cases and eager not to fail in this one. The descriptive passages about the setting and the town evoked memories of small country towns seen in my travels around my homeland. For a while I thought Bella and Alec's relationship overshadowed the story but later revelations tied that all together very successfully.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book, Bronwyn captured my attention on the first page making me want to read more and my attention never wained. To me this book was more mystery/suspense than romance, which is one of the reasons I enjoyed it so much.,The focus of the story was u
... morencovering the clues to find a missing child and going back to an old crime that had been marked close. Bronwyn's talent for describing a scene had me smelling the dust, hearing the flies and the sound of heavy boots as they moved through the dry bush. I loved the strong character of Isabelle O'Connell 'Bella' and for me the romance between her and DCI Alec Goddard did not detract from the story, it awakened emotions within 'Bella' that she had tried to forget, emotions that she would need to draw on to find the missing child before it was too late. less
