review 1: The last version of this fairy tale I read was Snoring Beauty by Bruce Hale and illustrated by Howard Fine. From the title onward, this story is meant for those who want a silly tale. Seven fairies, although these are quite different than in the other tales, are present for the celebration. One is actually a guy named Fred who is not really a fairy, “..but no one had the hear to tell him.” The eighth fairy, scorned, shows up to curse the baby. She curses the baby: “When this babe turns sixteen, she will be run over by a pie wagon and die!” Tintinnitus, the hard of hearing fairy, mis-hears the curse and thinks that she is cursed to turn into a dragon and die. He can’t undue the curse, but he can stifle it. He instead grants that instead of becoming a dead d... moreragon, she will become a sleeping dragon that will be awoken by a quince. He mis-heard the queen hopefully asking if a prince would awaken the princess. Instead, the Princess must be awoken by a quince. She, of course, has her foot run over by a pie wagon and she turns into not just a sleeping dragon, but a snoring dragon. Suitors come applying all manner of quinces to try to wake the Princess. Finally, a man wearing ear plugs enters the town and decides to try his luck at waking the Princess. He times his kiss just perfectly and wakes the Princess. It turns out that the Prince was actually a Prince Quince to be exact! The two live happily ever after. However, Prince Quince discovers that those ear plugs that he wore on the way into the village become quite handy because the snoring dragon has turned into a snoring Princess. The story ends, happily and ‘noisily’ ever after!
review 2: The snoring beauty is a book about the story of the sleeping beauty, but with a twist. In the book there are some common elements and characters such as the fairies, the king and queen, and of course sleeping beauty, who is now a snoring beauty. The story is fun, the twist that the author gave in this book is hilarious especially if you are familiar with with the traditional version. This story is a fantasy, because in the story there are things that couldn't happen in real life such as a girl turning into a snoring dragon. And fairies don't really exist. It is a fun story and it has a good moral. less
