review 1: I really enjoyed reading Omorphi. It's a bit of an eye opener. There was sad parts to, also plenty of action to keep you on your toes. For me however, it was a beautiful story of surviving and learning to love after never being taught this. There was so much hope in this young couples life. I am very excited to see what becomes of both Michael and Christy in the sequel. I would definitely recommend this book to others, and in fact I would encourage others to read Omorphi. Though the book is a bit long, I feel that worked in the stories favor. We are better able to understand both Christy and Michael. Also I never felt the book slow down, it kept me reading until then end.
review 2: Let me start by telling you that this books is not for everyone. There are
... moresome horrific instances of abuse that are detailed and are definitely not for the faint of heart. Also, victims of prior abuse may find it to much to read. I finished this book a few days ago and I decided to wait to write the review in order to give my emotions some time to settle. I was on such an emotional high when I finished it that I did not feel like I could give a fair review. Also, since the author is a relatively new author, I though I might be able to give him constructive criticism I had as far as the timeline of the book and some little plot traps he may want to watch for in the future. In the end, waiting was a bit of a mistake because when I look back on the book, I do not remember what my issues were with the timeline and plot. When I think about my experience reading this book, I just remember the emotional journey the author took me on and how much I enjoyed every moment of it. One thing I really liked about the book was the research that went into hit. The author either has a background of some sort in therapy for victims of abuse or he did an amazing amount of research. This is not an author who woke up one day and decided to write a book about an abuse victim. This was well thought out and planned. Which brings me to my next point. There is a foreword written by J.P. Barnaby and an author's note at the end of the book and they may just be my favorite parts of the book. Considering how much I loved the book, that says a lot! Because J.P. compares the book to her book "Aaron" it sets the reader up for what kind of book journey they are about to embark on. It also puts the reader in the right mind. And the author's note exposes so much about who he is as a person and where his priorities are. Now as for the book itself, it is about one of the bravest men you'll ever read about and his hero, for whom he falls head over heels. I've read some reviews that say they find Michael (the hero) too good to be true and I think they are right. I am not sure if it was intentional on the part of the author to make Michael this almost mystically perfect guy or not, but, if it was intentional, I think it's sheer genius because it allows us a glimpse into how Christy (the brave one) may have viewed Michael. Christy really felt Michael was to good too be true, too, in the beginning. At the end of the day, for me what every book comes down to, is how it makes me feel. I know there were some issues with editing, and plot holes, and so much going on in the book that it made your head spend. But who really cares because, when it was all said and done, this book just made me feel good! less
