review 1: Writer kept me sucked in until the end. I liked the characters but there no background to who they were other than being friends/schoolmates/neighbors. I just had a problem with the mystery of the book. There were tiny hints as to what she really was and it finally came out in the last line of the book. I figured out what she was by the title of the book but too much secrecy and not enough background to keep a lot of readers interested to the end. I had to know what happened and was a little disappointed by the end but picked up the second book because I hate leaving things undone.
review 2: This was a hard one for me to finish. There were some interesting parts of the story, but I found the whole high school drama elements to be a major stumbling block fo... morer me.The paranormal side kicks in and I become engrossed for a couple pages then it falls back into the regular dramatics of a teenager.The writing style was not complicated enough, if that makes sense? I know the target audience was young adult readers but even so I felt the writing style lack depth.I will most likely not be reading on in this series as I need 'more' punch to my mysteries/paranormal stories. less
