review 1: Not bad, but not fantastic either. Some elements in the plot felt overseen: the gay cowboys, the bad brother threatening the girlfriend, the cop hero, the guy feeling responsible of his best friend's little sister... However I have to admit that the characters were more personalized than in many erotica and managed to resemble real persons. Problem is I did not care so much about some of their problem. Jace's struggle with alcoholism left me cold and by the way I never managed to be convinced he would not go back down there. Jasper and Sarah were both very nice, cute and naive, but I never bought their age, 20 in the prologue and 24 in the story. In my opinion, they behave and think as if they were 15-16 in the prologue and barely 20 in the story - very green, inexperience... mored and not fully mature yet. The murder investigation was however interesting. I liked how the author brought in several potential suspects, some of them innocent of the murder but having some other secrets to hide. It seemed more developed and believable than in many other eroticas and the villain seemed awfully bad and twisted. The hot scenes were rather hot, though not as emotional as others.
review 2: Ok at first I admit i didn't care about the Sarah part. I just thought it'd be best if she wasn't there at all, but towards the end of the book I felt like each person represented something that one of them needed and they really fit well together. Another thing I liked was all the twist and turns in the investigation. I hate a mystery where you can pretty much guess who did it while napping. This one gave so many believable suspects that I couldn't figure it out until they did! Yea!The only problem I had with this book and actually all the books in this series is the characters names. I can not tell you how many times I had to stop reading and remember who exactly Cade, Conner, Cassie, Cain, and Caleb were. Not to mention Jake, Jas, and Jace. And then you have other names that rhyme such as Luke and Duke. Dane must have picked a letter out of a scrabble game and tried to make as many names as she could that sound the same less
