review 1: I'm going to start with the positives before going on about the rest. I love murder mystery with some fun characters in them. That's the positive. So here's the thing that I find hard to believe and this is why this book is horrible! Sorry, not sure what everyone on Goodreads is raving about because I feel like I'm in the twilight zone ...and not sure if I'm reading the same book as them? Now lets get the storyline straight, Lexi Graves is dating this "Handsome" cop who by the way has never given her a reason to suspect he would ever cheat on her. She even knows he goes under cover for work. So her boss so happens to send her out to check on one of his cases and she sees her boyfriend with another lady and automatically assumes the worst of him. She then refuses to tak... moree his calls, and just calls it off? Hello PLEASE get real. What woman does that? I'll tell you which one, NONE OF THEM! I need this to be somewhat real for me to be able to buy the murder-mystery part. Oh and wait it gets better... she goes with her "HOT boss" on an undercover mission and not even a week in she's doing the deed with her boss! Her hot boss is a straight nut, he set her up to make Adam look bad so that he could take advantage of her. Manipulation. You have to give it to the guy he knows what he needs to do to win. Sorry, I love Adam Maddox, he's the only "true" character in this series. All the others have motives, Lexi being the biggest offender.
review 2: Command indecisionCamilla chaferWonderful except TOO MUCH of a cliff hanger!!Great job with both guys but wth couldn't Maddox make a dang phone call while undercover? I blame him and Lexi needs to at least hold him accountable!!!Really good!!! Again chafer hits the mark!! She tells a tale that has fun twists and turns!! The only thing is that is bugging me is that I am starting to guess the outcome and at the end, There is SOOO much that she didn't know. She pretty much stumbled onto the killer!. And she was really stupid and could hv killed a lot of people, including herself. I don't know how I feel about that, unless the next novel addresses that...Other than that, I LOVE Lexi!! Her friendship with Lilly is great! I love their banter and wit! Lilly shares some intense news and I would've thought that it would hv made Lexi more contemplative, more reflective, you know a little-"wtf happens now" inner monologue!! But none & she has those monologues by the hundreds over things like shoes, surely her best friends life changing deserved one!!! As Lexi leaves town to work a new case undercover, her heart is broken by Maddox-again with the whole phone call thing!! Grrr!! She plays an undercover newlywed with her gorgeous boss Solomon. As a reader, I really hope this series ends with a brother-husband relationship!! It's too hard to choose which man I like the most-I mean Lexi likes!! As the case heats up, so does the fake marriage with Solomon and when I say hear up, I mean prepare for some hot sexual tension!! Then Maddox shows up and it gets even crazier!! I am continuing to get more and more bothered by him though. Thy clearly need to talk, and being a woman, it doesn't make sense that Lexi won't let him explain anything! Of course, maybe then she would hv to fully examine why she is so hot for her boss if she is in such a serious relationship!! Hmmm....I think I just figured out why! I really like Chafer and her paranormal series is even better than this one!! It's a book you should absolutely read if u like mysteries mixed with romance! The characters are fun and easy to get addicted to. It's just the cliff hanger endings that bug me!! I don't mind a little bit of one-after all, it's a series, but this one ended like a chapter! Thank goodness the next book is already out and I didn't hv to wait!!!! less
