review 1: Amy has Cerebral Palsy and relies on computer to give her a voice. Matthew has undiagnosed OCD and lives in fear that his actions will cause harm to others. When they are paired together at school (Matthew becomes Amy's student aide), they realize their weaknesses complement the others' strengths. A series of events causes hurt feelings, misunderstandings, and revelations as Amy and Matthew also navigate their growing feelings for each other.Beautifully narrated by voice actor Rebecca Lowman, I enjoyed this tale but found it a big long and over wrought at times. The switches between Matthew and Amy's perspective meant a bit of repetition in the action of the story. I also didn't feel Matthew was very believable at times; he was almost "too perfect," especially for a t... moreeenage boy. I loved him, but I often was like, "really?"But, still charming, sad, and a great story with non-traditional characters. Bravo!
review 2: A girl with cerebral palsy and a boy with worsening OCD become friends, and then best friends, then possibly more during their senior year. It all begins with the day Matthew is the only person to tell Amy that the sunshine-and-puppies positivity in an essay she wrote is BS. He helps her get around at school; she gives him assignments to help overcome his OCD. He takes her to prom; they don't leave together. Sweet, likable characters, often heartbreakingly believeable in their struggles with each other and themselves, and readers with neither CP nor OCD will still find many sympathetic moments. A good recommendation for fans of Eleanor & Park and The Fault in Our Stars. less
