review 1: I am a huge fan of the television shows Sex and the City and the Carrie Diaries, which is why I decided to read this novel. However, I was severely disappointed. It was like the creators of the television series took the characters and created a totally different concept (which I applaud as they made a huge improvement). The only good part of this novel was the character of George. All of the other characters were sociopathic and nasty to each other. Sebastian is a narcissistic, arrogant, sexist asshole. Maggie is whinging, annoying and hypocritical. I couldn't connect to any of the characters. Also, Carrie believed she was at fault for Sebastian treating her like shit, which made me want to pull my hair out. There were points while reading this where I was so angry and di... moresgusted at their behaviour that I would have thrown the book in the bin, although I forced myself to keep reading.This novel had no plot line and nothing really happened. The title is also irrelevant as no where in the novel does Carrie keep or talk about having a diary. The only reason I will keep this book is because the cover is so so beautiful.
review 2: The writing is very nice and clear. The characters thoughts were simple, easy to follow yet very entertaining.For anyone who chooses to read this book beacause you enjoyed the TV Series be prepared to be disappointed as some characters do not exist and mainly as Carrie looses her sweet personality and enthusiasm.Therefore I still give this book a 3 out of 5 stars as it is very entertaining and helps understand better the Sex and the City series. less
