review 1: All in all a very good read to wrap up the 'original series' - lots of loose ends from large (come on Ms. Roane, you still have 3 original WotB to make happy/find love) to smaller (Endelle and 'Shorty' need to have a book dedicated to them and not just a 'lets get busy and naked now' - they waited 5,000 years! to be together) to smallest (no way would Greaves just go thru the Baptism Pools and become redeemed...you can't redeem pure evil and his is - he will be back and probably worse than before...in fiction, the only way to deal with that type of evil is to kill it).I enjoyed the main love story of Leto and Grace - I felt they worked though I will admit to being disappointed that my Cas (my second fav character in the series, Endelle is #1) got the sweet type of wrap up ... morewith him 1 - good going; 2 - letting Grace go; 3 - Finding Patience his real true love...felt a bit too much like Spike mixed with Sawyer cop out...eventhough I love Cas enough to like him good guy too...it was just too convenient. I'm purposefully not reading Book 1 in this series so there will always be something out there by Roane to have in my TBR pile. I really really REALLY hope she continues with this series and not in little novellas like her latest on the Millitia. Embrace this goodness...make each story full and robust...they are really *that* good.
review 2: WHAT A FRACKEN AWESOME ENDING TO AN AWESOME SERIES!Once again I am getting 'TEAM OBSIDIAN' t-shirts done!Where to start.....Well Grace returning to Leto who is now part beast is just the beginning of the end for Greaves. CR ties up alot of loose ends in the Braulio/ Endelle story. Let's not forget that spectacular demonstration of folding abilities! DAMN!Oh and the unfolding of the other Breh story of Caz and Patience and ultimately the reunion the siblings that is Thorne, Grace and Patience. And can I say is that Endelles morph at the end read like a beautiful fairy come to life who kicks Greaves steel ass. But I am waiting for Luken, Santiago and Zach to be hit with the Breh! I want a series around those boys and I hope Caris Roane delivers something spectacular.I am saddened that this saga is at an end but Caris Roane has me as a fan FOREVER less
