review 1: It was fantastically written, entirely compelling, completely heart-wrenching and in all a lovely read from start to finish. I wish I had known how much of a tear-inducer it was going to be. Lots of sad and poignant moments, all the stress of growing up in tough situations. At times I could actually feel the awkward frustration of being 12-13 and trying to make sense of the world and find out the "whys" of life.
review 2: Beautiful story that pulls you back to that time in your life of the uncertainty of growing up and having to deal with hurtful challenges. The heroine is someone you want for your best friend. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves to curl up with a great read that transports you away but it is also a great read for adolescent wome... moren. I would love it if Carla wrote another book about these characters just because I missed them so much when the book came to an end. Challenging subject matter handled so well! Uplifting! less
