review 1: Chapter 1 - hate the heroine. Clearly, we're off to a good start! There's a time/space continuum error that's irritates me...just because books are written by "word" people doesn't mean that they shouldn't be able to do basic math. I consider the subtraction of 5 from any number to be basic math. *in a huff*Chapter 3 - silly, silly, silly.Chapter 7 - still hate the heroine. Want the book to be done! Can't believe I'm still reading it, but I'm dragging through it b/c I don't like the lady. Why do I finish everything? Am I halfway through yet?
review 2: What a great read (but then again, not surprised with a Carly Phillips book!)Here we have a book about a reluctant hero, Sam "Coop" Cooper, who foils a robbery and instantly becomes a hero. Not only is he splashed
... more on the news and given a reward from the owners of the jewellery store in the form on an antique ring but the local paper that he works for also named him the first Bachelor for their Bachelor Blogs. He's swarmed by numerous winners looking for a good time and for a chance to wear said ring but Coop's not interested. That is until Lexie Davis comes on the scene. Lexie isn't interested in Coop, at least not like the women sending him naked photos and sexy underwear, she's more interested in the ring. It matches a necklace her grandmother owns and Lexie believes it would be the perfect birthday gift for her.But on the road to getting the ring, Coop and Lexie learn the ring has a mysterious past tying back to an unsolved mystery for missing jewels from a swanky party back in the 50s. Now they have to find out who stole the jewels way back when and how that affects them in the here and now!I have to say the cast of characters is what really sold the book. Coop is sexy and funny but with a soft core, Lexie is fun and grandmother Charlotte is a hoot! I'm so looking forward to reading Sara's story next. less
