A student gave me this book after taking it out from Tawa library as she thought (quite rightly) I would enjoy it. It is a delightful little book, centered on a girl called Hannah who finds herself up the duff and unwilling to tell anyone who the dad is. Enter Aaron, the new boy at school. He seems pretty conservative but actually he’s hiding a dark secret too, one which leads him to volunteer himself as Hannah’s fake baby daddy. The question, of course, is who is the actual father? It’s a really sweet story with enough intrigue to keep you turning the pages in anticipation. Also, I’m not sure if it is just because the main character is called Hannah, but I kept imagining these two as Hannah and Clay from the tv series of 13 Reasons Why. This made me unreasonably happy and definitely begs the question: Is it ok for a woman approaching 40 to have a crush on an actor playing a 17 year old boy? This seems somehow wrong, and yet…. Yeah. Maybe I just need to stop reading so much YA fiction.
