review 1: This was a lovely story! I loved the way it all just seemed to flow together. The only thing i can see is that maybe there should have been a few more rooms in the B&B. Just having 2 even as a startup just seems a bit too small to be able to run a successful business. However, that aside, the story was really good. Having a beach setting is always a plus for me and the fact that Mandy isnt afraid to tackle anything on her own is great! Throwing her sister into the mix makes it fun and interesting. This was an easy read and just one of the kind of stories i throughly enjoy! I really liked the way the book ended also- even with Adam going back and forth... it was really good!
review 2: This was an okay read. Below are some questions/comments I have about thi
... mores story:When Adam first arrives at the B & B and asks Mandy about the Yukon Magazine, why does she tell him that she doesn't read it? Seriously, it's like he knows she put an ad in it, so why would she not read it? Very stupid. After Adam comes back from doing whatever at the beach, Mandy is in the bathroom still peeling the wallpaper off the walls. Why? She knows she has a guest. She knows said guest is in a room where this bathroom is the one he'll be using. Common sense would tell her that she should clean up her mess and make the bathroom presentable for when Adam returns. Mandy going around in front of guests obviously not wearing a bra? When Adams helping her in the bathroom with the wallpaper and when she gets the guests with the baby. Just doesn't seem very professional to me.Okay I know B & B's are the homier versions of motels, hence they have fewer rooms and whatnot. But Mandy's only has 2? How much money could you really be making? I mean there's only 2 rooms. And the times when she would say that she was full. IDK, but it just seemed funny to me. I will only say this: 'A gallon jug of red wine.' ? Is it just me or does that sound like something a redneck would have? When the married couple with Jeremy is visiting, the wife comments on how she hopes after her and her husband have been married for however long Mandy and Adam supposedly have, they'll still be having romantic dinners. Huh? So that makes it sound like you can only have a romantic dinner if you've been married for a while, right? So after Mandy and Adam go to the pumpkin festival, they both get their faces painted. They end up kissing and no comment is made to the fact that they basically just got their faces done, but didn't smear or mess up either ones paint. But when Adam goes to 'brush a crumb' off the corner of Mandy's mouth, it 'send a cloud of glitter onto his hand.' ? How much glitter did the painter person use on her face? AND AGAIN....No too much later, they Mandy is rubbing her hands together and a 'shower of glitter ends up in her lap.' ? With that much glitter falling everywhere I would just imagine Mandy's face completely covered, and the same to Adam's face too.Okay so Mandy is supposedly in love with Jack after all their writing back and forth to each other. Question: she knows he's looking for a wife and I assume he's never mentioned that he would leave the Yukon and move to the states to accomplish this. Would Mandy actually move to the Yukon and marry a complete stranger? I think not. Not really sure why she makes a big deal at he end when she finds out Jack plans on marrying someone else. This just doesn't make sense because yes he might tell her stuff in his letters, but how does she know any of it's true? Mandy and Adam end up going out to eat after she gets the couple who have no luggage. Really? You would leave complete stranger at your place of business/home a lone? Stupid and very naive. Why does Adam think that Jack has more of a right to Mandy than he does? I don't get that? Adam was the one who was writing to Mandy, mainly talking about his life experiences and whatnot. Yes, Jack started the ad but still. If Jack really wanted to know about Mandy, he should have go to see her himself.Mandy mentions how Jack's personality really stands out to her in his letters. Yet after meeting Adam, nothing clicks in her brain? I mean he was the one that wrote the letters, he's been really nice and helpful to her but nothing....How does Adam manage to pick up 2 couples plus their luggage in his car? I can't imagine he rented some huge car when it was just him. After they find out some of the members of the double couple are vegetarians, they decide to make salad and pasta for them. In the end, there's this huge mess in the kitchen with all the pots and pans having been used and both Mandy and Adam filthy. Are salad and pasta that hard to make? Before the above couples eat dinner they decide to take a nap, an hour later they eat dinner then go back to bed. I can't imagine dinner took very long, but they were able to go back to sleep that quickly? So Mandy ends up feeling bad when Adam gets stuck having to sleep on the couch. Question: Why didn't Mandy and Laurie share Mandy's room, so Adam could have Laurie's bed? Common sense there. Why was Mandy surprised that Jack was writing to other ladies? Did she really assume that he'd place an ad for looking for a wife and only respond to one writer? Stupid. How old are any of these people? We know that Laurie is 2 years younger than Mandy but that's it.Why did she think that Jack was willing to sacrifice for marriage? Again had he ever talked to her about coming to the states to visit or anything? Why does Mandy tell Adam that she's only using him as a rebound because of Jack? Very stupid again. I mean it's not like she wasn't feeling a connection to him prior to finding out Jack planned on marrying someone else. Why was Mandy so excited that Jack came to visit? Hello! The last she heard he was going to marry someone else. I can't imagine she would suddenly change the way she felt towards him after that last letter. Although Mandy is very naive and stupid, so I guess you never know.Lastly, after I've written a short story worth of questions/comments, I ask how Mandy was stupid enough to believe that Adam didn't care about her? I mean come on! Mandy deserved a good smack for that one.In the end, there wasn't nothing special about this story. I didn't like Mandy at all! She just annoyed me too much. I think Adam deserved someone a lot better than her too. less
