review 1: Maggie has had a hard time so far in her life, she has simple dreams; husband and children. But she has lost her husband after three miscarriages. So she decides to go on with life and make lemonade with her lemons of life. She has trained to be a nanny but there is a mix-up with her first job and she meets a new destiny with a marine biologist and his 6 year old son. This is a slow building romance because both the H/h have been hurt in the past with their ex-partners. I understand going slow because it is much like when you get burned on the stove so the next few times you go to cook something in the stove, you are reluctant and extra careful so not to get hurt again. My lasagna scar on my first knuckle will tell you that for a month after that nasty burn, I was super ca... morereful everytime I approached a heated oven... So can you imagine what it would be like if it was your heart that had been broken? Well, these are emotionally damaged adults (who isn't by the time we leave childhood?!) so I forgive the one step forward, two steps back dance that goes on for most of the story. This was well written and edited. A full sized length book so it was great on a weekend trip to the mountains.I got it free for kindle and it was a fun light read.2 stars
review 2: Blegh. This is one of the worst books I've ever tried to read. Terrible story, non-existent "conflict," inconsistent characterization, etc etc. I ended up deciding that I didn't hate myself enough to finish it. It's also when I decided officially to never believe Amazon reviews. It's got an average of 3+ stars on Goodreads, too, so maybe I shouldn't trust reviews here, either, or maybe this kind of fiction is just totally not for me. :P less
