review 1: Amazing, absolutely amazing. It's been a extremely long time since I've read a book that kept me on my toes like this one did. Valerie Gaines is a high-school senior and the producer of her school's news team. The team begins to investigate mysterious pranks turning up around the school, all done by a group who call themselves MP. It all makes for an interesting, mildly amusing story to report, until the pranks take on a creep factor. Plastic body parts hanging around the school, dead birds in lockers, and poorly masked death threats. Valerie begins extensively investigating, along with another team member, Jag, who just happens to be her ex. For all you people who like a little romance to brighten up a story, this one's got just the right amount. As the threats and pranks e... morescalate, can she figure out who's behind it all before someone she loves gets hurt, or is it already too late? Alright, despite being a great story with many unexpected plot twists, there were some things I had problems with. 1-When Valerie gets secretly contacted by MP, she goes to investigate alone, without telling anyone where she's going or what's going on. That's just stupid, she could've disappeared and nobody would have any clue as to where she went. 2-On the part where Valerie uses her phone to find Jag with that app, it just seemed kinda funky. I can't explain it, but finding someone by their phone is just kinda stalkerish. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad she and Jag had it, otherwise he would've died. 3-Towards the end of the book, you find out one of the members of MP is someone very close to Valerie, but Valerie easily forgave her. I could never forgive someone if they did something like that to me. Things I did like-these are just a couple stand out things, but definitely not all of them. 1-The narrative style-I really appreciated how the book was told from the POV of Valerie and the leader of MP, without revealing who it is. 2-The plot twists-in most books with a mystery in them, I can usually guess what's going to happen. In this one I could not, I had my suspicions involving one of the member of MP. I thought she was an initiate, not an original member. I also was surprised by the depth of her treachery. People who've read the book know what I'm talking about. 3-The idea of MP- I like how this is actually not that unrealistic of an idea. A group of teenage outcasts tired of being ignored and humiliated every day decide to take revenge on people around them. Being somewhat of a teenage outcast myself, I sympathize with them. I definitely don't agree with what they did, but I can understand why.
review 2: i enjoy this one, i think this one really dealt with bully but a larger scale. a mysterious, cocky group of teenagers are vandalizing their school- i think because they were mad at everyone. Some of their tricks went too far... the main character is trying to figure out who these group of people are. Anyway, i think i liked the first novel by Carol Tanzman only because i think it was a little more developed. but this was still a good book. less
