review 1: This book held me from the beginning to the end in thrall of its awesomeness. It's dark, electric, and stunning in its need to explain the story to us, the reader. Carson May be messed up, Nikodemus may be messed up too but together they are a formidable pair. Nikodemus may not have trusted her in the beginning, but towards the end they made beautiful music together. Carson learned her new ropes on the fly but with Nikodemus helping her she gathered some freaking awesome fiends in the wake of our time with their story and I, for one, can't wait to read more of Carolyn Jewel's sinfully delicious reads.
review 2: I loved the premise of this book but it was confusing at times. Demons are good witches are bad and humans have very little importance at all in this wo... morerld. Once the book got going it was easier to follow. It was a little farfetched that Carson did not realize she was a witch until a demon is ready to kill her for being one.Nikodemus is the warlord demon who wants to kill Carson and her former benefactor Magellan. After meeting Carson his mission is put on hold because of her innocence and the draw he feels toward her. As their relationship develops he is torn but what he wants to do and what he should do. In the mean time Magellan and his fellow mages(witches) are looking for Carson because of a talisman she has stolen.The talisman could make its owner invincible when a certain ceremony is carried out. It will also make its owner capable of enslaving or destroying all the demons.I read the book in a day off from work. It was a good escape though I am not sure if i want to enter this world again. less
