review 1: I love fairy tale remakes, this one had an extra twist that I can't wrap my mind around, (not to worry, no spoilers). This version of Cinderella is from the fairy godmother's perspective. In my opinion, it's probably the darkest take on one of history's most beloved fairy tale. It's full of absolute desire and longing. To be frank, although its clear the reader is meant to sympathize with the godmother, I found her to be incredibly selfish and greedy. Despite that, it was a really interesting twist, and I found it to be heartbreakingly great.
review 2: I thought the concept of this fairy-tale retelling was great, but it came up short. If she would have added a few hundred more pages and went in depth with it, it could have been fantastic. Although I believe it
... moreneeded more detail/story, she repeated herself a little too much for my liking. All her descriptions of things were very similar and she used words like "watery" and "sugar" for more than one thing. Maybe if she played with her words a little? The ending was very abrupt and a tad unrealistic. I don't think Veronica would have just let her walk out of the apartment in that state. I understand it needed to end that way for the impact and I loved the way it ended, but again, I think she should have lengthened the story and provided more full text in order for it to rate 4-5 stars (for me at least). Great idea though! less

Kind of disappointed in the ending - thought it somewhat of a cop-out.
