review 1: This is a very short read, and it makes me wonder if it's as long as Carrie's attention span. Reading this book you're able to appreciate how funny she would be to meet, however there's little in the way of particular substance (ha get it!?) in this book. It is, from what I have gleaned from her witticisms, her prompts for her comedy act after she's been under ECT therapy and can't remember who she is, or why people want to see her in the first place. It reads as a script for a show, basically. If you wanted to understand the complexities of mental illness and substance abuse, you're probably not going to find the answers in Carrie's writings. If you want to know at what age you should speak to your children about oral sex, Carrie may have the answer for you. If you're a fa... moren of Star Wars, you won't find anything in here that you didn't already know. And there's not enough gratuitous Leia photos in here to warrant you reading it. Back off nerds! If you're looking for something that's witty, but not really all that insightful, this will do the trick nicely.
review 2: This is a short, fast read, which is a good thing else I'd likely not have finished it. I thought it would be more about Fisher's battle with addiction, but it is more a name-dropping overview of her life. I'm only passingly interested in famous people's autobiographies, so it didn't grab me in that regard. I also didn't find her self-deprecating humor very appealing. Not for me; good for Fisher fans, I suppose. less
