review 1: This book is totally fun. A quick read full of quirky characters and an imaginative plot. The Characters: There are not a lot of secondary characters, but the ones that are there are well done. Lexie and Ryan as Nate's best friends and Mr. Pippi as Kaylee's best gerbil are well rounded and identifiable. Hero/Heroine: For my readers that don't know (and you should by now) I love a nerdy boy. Nate is a magician who loves suspenders and card tricks. He is awkward and shy and totally in love with Kaylee. Our leading lady is boisterous, out-going and friends with everyone and no one at the same time. They are a match made in unrequited heaven, until they discover their feeling for each other. The story: Boy likes girl. Girl likes boy. Boy asks girl to help him with upcom... moreing talent show. Girl and boy get accidentally locked in zig zag box and "accidentally" lock lips. The two are sweet and endearing and I was captivated from the first chapter. Told in dueling POV's, the authors kept the witty remarks and awkward moments going and found a solid twist on an old classic.Final Thoughts: such a clean, classic story told brilliantly. Enjoy!
review 2: Okay it's not because I think Cassie and Theresa are probably two of the best people I have ever talked to that this book is getting such a positive review .. . This review is solely based on their kick-ass writing skills!I cannot tell you how much I loved True Love and Magic Tricks! Though it was a short novella, Tessa Marie and Becca Ann did a fantastic job of highlighting the romance between Nate and Kaylee. The book made me laugh, cry, boo and all the fun things you should do when reading a story! There was flawless dialogue, complete with witty banter, romantic quotes, and those kicky quips it should have. The love didn't seem forced, or sappy. It was cute and flirty and everything it should be!Nate is just that nerdy guy you can't help falling for, who wouldn't want a guy to pull flowers from his sleeve, or a rabbit out of his hat. Kaylee was a little too peppy for my blood, she would probably be that girl I purposely avoid in the cafeteria just because she is just so darn happy. What really drew me in was Nate, and the mystery that surrounded him. Even more so what I really was rooting for was Ryan and Lexie, because like a dummy, I didn't realize that they had their own books... which by the way I just started! So I will say I was more than skipping, jumping, cartwheeling (if I could actually do one) and back-flipping (okay I can't do those either but I was on the inside!) when I found out that True Love and Magic Tricks is the prequel to their stories. Nate and Kaylee, had such a cute romance. I liked that they were willing to do anything to please one another, including dancing and wearing skimpy leotards with sequins! You pretty much can't go wrong with books that are written by these two ladies, they are full of laughter, romance, and all that gooey, sappy, flirty, cute, makes you wanna smile all day long kind of love that you just can't help rooting for. I recommend this to anyone who loves all I said above! And even those who don't because hey, it's free, it's wonderful and everyone should read it! less
