review 1: Great book on how to seek out animal meat that is humanely processed and raised. Avoids all the nastiness some documentaries choose to show and instead explains how to go about being a meat-eater and getting it from a trusted source where you know the animal was treated humanely and with dignity. Food is not just food when it comes from an animal, and they deserve our respect when they are the ones supplying us with so much.
review 2: I liked this book. There were lots of practical suggestions of ways to work towards eating less factory-farmed meat, while still recognizing the fact that it probably won't work for everyone to eat humanely raised meat 100% of the time. I enjoyed the author's writing style. Her love for animals really shines through her writing
... more. I definitely could have done without all the references to the fact that she is a lesbian, though. less
