review 1: 3.5 stars. I picked this book up when it was a freebee for Kindle from amazon? The cover and title were a little cheesy but the book turned out to be surprisingly good. Entertaining and fast paced, though I found the first half to be rather Buffy like.Though the story grew on its own despite my thoughts that it was too similar to Buffy. Female hunter only one of her generation, two best friends as a 'Scooby Gang' and a love interest who may not be all human. Even so, the story turned out pretty dam good and Amerie was a pretty kick ass main character al on her own.I wasn't impressed with Marshall much he was too much of a jackass for my rates but I could see where he was coming from when everything was explained in the end. An enjoyable read and I look forward to more fro... morem this series.
review 2: I really liked how this series is starting off with this first book, but I do have a couple of cons on the main character. I think she was way to sarcastic for my taste even though she was a really great strong female character but just her sarcasm was just far off for me. Like with her dad's girlfriend for an example she kept calling her step monster and just didn't even try to get to know her at all she just assumed that she was some awful person and hated her right off the bat. Even though I don't know what it feels like to have one of my parents die and then have my dad have somebody new but I wouldn't just be awful to her, I would get to know and then decide wether or not to be rude to her. I understand on how she didn't want someone else to replace her mom but she could of have some manners.There are also characteristics of her that I did like about Amerie, it was nice to have someone who didn't just stand back and watch everyone fight for her. Also she always made sure her friends were safe even if it means that her own life is in danger, like usually main characters just say stay in the car but no she said that they should just drive off leaving her without a way home, that just what really impressed me about Amerie character.Now onto to Amerie's friend, Mercy. I liked her, but I don't really feel like we got to know her much all we really got to know was that she was pretty, smart, and that she liked Chuck more than just as a friend.Also she didn't really try to make her feeling known to Chuck she just kind of sat back and watch him talk to all the girls while she just got mad about it, well girl if you want him go after him cause he is not gonna know if you just sit their and watch. She was funny in some of the scenes but something about her sometimes just kind of annoyed me, I just can't exactly pinpoint it though.Now onto Chuck. I also don't feel like we really got to know him to much either except that he is kind of a man whore. Even though it sounds like I don't like any of the characters I really do it's just that I like them more when they were all together they just bounce off each other really well with each of their different personalities.Now onto the yummy Marshal, wasn't he just great, his snarky comments just always made me laugh and then sigh a little afterwards. Also that he caged fight was kind of hott too, who doesn't like it when their guy gets a little dirty huh huh yeah you know you like it. Also Amerie and Marshal just played together really well they balance each other out with one being kind of hard edged and the other one kind of just doesn't really think about the consequences.Also all together I really did love this book, the building romance was just wonderfully done. The plot of this book was really intriguing too I always wanted to know what happened next didn't even want to put the book down. I really can't wait for the next book comes out to see what happens next!Oh and by the way I think that Cindy isn't all what she seems I don't know why but I'm just a little suspicious about her. Even though everyone thinks Sam is all what he seems I didn't really get that out of the book. Maybe that's why Amerie was kind of rude to her at the beginning cause maybe she felt something but still she could of at least say hello first instead of yelling at her dad.that's why I gave this book 4 stars. less
