Carry Me
review 1: this was a good read for me but. not as enjoyable as the first book in the series Fireman's Carry..which I absolutely loved...reading this story the character of Laramie. seemed much older than 28..I just couldn't picture him that young..the rest of the characters were ok, since four of them was from the first book in the series. I enjoyed the main characters from the first book a lot more..that story had great pacing...this story especially the coming together of the main characters seemed extremely rushed...n I don't like when books are written this way...
review 2: 3.5*This is a sequel to Fireman's Carry and it can be read alone, but I think it's better to read them in order. Vincent and Carl from that book are also in this book, which was nice.Laramie is a
... morepig farmer, although he is hoping to expand into horse breeding and other things when the time is right, but at the moment he is dealing with his grief over losing his uncle and with his parents and brother trying to make a claim on his farm.Trace is one of the firefighters on the scene when Laramie's barn is torched and burns down. That's there first meeting, but nothing comes of it, until a few weeks later when they run into each other at a diner.Trace is an unrepentant player and makes no bones about it. He doesn't want anything serious and love isn't in his future. That's actually exactly what Laramie needs, with all his responsibilities on his farm and stress with his greedy homophobic family he doesn't want the added stress of a boyfriend who needs his consideration. They strike a sex-only deal that works really well for them and they get to have a lot of sex! While the suspicious incidents on Laramie's farm increase so do the feelings that Trace has for the man. I am a fan of players and guys who are above those 'lowly feelings' of love and affection actually falling hard when they least expect it.But to his credit, Trace doesn't fight his feelings he is open and honest about them. It's nice to watch Trace realize he doesn't mind having a 'boyfriend' and that he might even love him.The two men have a lot in common, they were both rejected and thrown out by their family, but then taken in by another family member who became the most important person in their world, and they have both lost that person. There is some tension and danger that escalates but really it's more about them falling in love when they had absolutely no intention of doing so.It's a very sweet story with a lot of hot sex, some wayward pigs, a burning barn, good friends, a close call, and a very happy ending. less
