review 1: the day after finishing the book, i still seem to be in two minds about it. i really liked the first third or so, but i must say i became a bit impatient with the characters in the middle. sure, i don't know what it's like to have a dying child (and hope i never find out!), but the two adults seemed increasingly selfish, bitchy, self-righteous, and some parts appeared repetitive. it got better again towards the end, and i loved the description on the final pages. all in all, good read, easy read, occasionally touching and beautifully told, but too inconsistently so to merit more than 3 stars.
review 2: This was a touching story and as a parent of a 7 year old, heart breaking. It was quick and easy to read. The story shows the effects on a family struggling with... more a terminal illness and how people deal with grief differently which can pull a family apart. I liked how the story ended and it left me with quite mixed emotions. I would like another book to find out how everyone coped after Sarah’s death. less
