review 1: 2.5 stars. When I picked up this Cheryl Holt book I wasn't necessarily expecting a masterpiece, lol. I was in the mood for a sexy read that I knew CH could deliver, but I was surprised by the short and tamed love scenes in this story. They were not as sexy as some of her other reads. She did try to tell a story filled with a little more dept than her last few offerings, but I couldn't help feeling a bit dissapointed by her lackadaisical love scenes, and of course this book had another TSTL heroine, who let everyone and there mother walk all over her. It never cease to amaze me when the heroes fall in love with all these heroines that don't have a thing to recommend them. They are not even beautiful half the time and they are always tstl doormats. It really irks me! The ... morehero in this book kept the story entertaining. I liked how the reader never really knows what he intends to do until the end. I did enjoy this book for a while, but the idiot heroine and the bad love scenes ruined it.
review 2: I went on a reading spree and finished this book today. It kept me interested through the whole book and I really liked the story a lot. I was surprised by the heat level in this book. It's been a while since I've read a Cheryl Holt book and I remember them being STEAMY HOT reads. Promise Of Pleasure was a hot read just not steamy hot like some of her earlier books. I feel she put more into the story in this book so I was completely happy with this read. I look forward to the next book, Taste Of Temptation to come out in June. less
