review 1: Sarah has a port white stain on her face. She is bullied at school and doesn't have many friends. Her parents want to get her the treatment she needs to make her face normal. The day of her treatment her parents tell her she can't get the treatment because they don't have the money. On her way home from school she gets kidnapped. Taken to this place in the country. She was blindfolded and raped many times. Finally she gets the blindfold off to realize where she is. In the cabin she stayed in when she was little. The person who took her is obsessed with her port-white stain. She finally escapes after 3 months and he tries to get her again. I would recommend this book to anybody who loves a great mystery
review 2: I started reading this, admittedly feeling it was... more slightly contrived, as if the author picked a problem that the protagonist was going to overcome by having a surgery and showing anyone who was mean to her what a good hearted person she was, and beauty was on the inside etc etc. Classic ugly duckling turned swan fare. I really didn't expect what I read at all. I didn't read the blurb I guess. I was so compelled, I finished this book in only a few days. I was right there with Sarah, and the nice part was that Sarah would think about things that seemed realistic and relive past moments in her head. I've never read a book like this and I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Gripping, and a little too real, close to home. Can't wait to read more by Rainfield. less
