review 1: This is definitely a page turner. It's a good story but I don't consider it a great story. I couldn't relate to Olena at all. To me she got sprung over Matthew because of great sex, which she should have been too mature it to allow happen. She begins to think through her sexual brain, which is always a mistake. Matthew was emotionally immature and a blatant liar. He said, he loved Olena and she was the only woman he was sleeping with LIE!! In my opinion, he didn't really have anything to contribute to the relationship, but great sex. Olena was definitely in the middle of mid-life crisis. Olena gave the appearance of having it together, but it was all smoking mirrors. All she had was money, material possessions and fake confidence.I liked her niece (Alicia), because she was... more her voice of reason. They had a great friendship.Matthew sounded a lot more together in the beginning than he did when we really got to know him. His constant texting and lack of simple manners would have been enough to turn me off. I understand that he wasn't looking for a commitment, but why should a mature together woman have to settle for what he is capable of giving?I am a 40 something woman too and I could relate to her being attracted to Jason, but Matthew...... no way. He was too immature.Olena asked GOD to send her a sign, showing her who she should choose. The obvious choice would be difficult for any woman, but there were definitely several signs showing who she shouldn't choose. It might even be telling her not to choose either one. What did she expect GOD to say "THIS IS YOUR SIGN, DON'T CHOOSE HIM". Her prayers were answered several times, but she kept making foolish choices.I think Olena was selfish, materialistic and too stuck in the past. Her one year sabbatical was for her to take time finding herself and that's what she really needed to do.Now Jason's mother was hilarious and she had me laughing out loud. This was a good story, but I can't give it 5 stars, because I thought Olena's character was too foolish. I will say I can't wait for the continuation, because I would like see what happens after some of the dust has settled. Does she choose Jason, Matthew or someone else?
review 2: I really loved this book from beginning until the end...almost. (LOL) I was so ready to give Ms. Robinson her rightfully deserved 5-star rating until I turn to the last page and there it was, the one thing I dread, simply cannot stand, a sequel to follow. When I see that I feel like Joan Crawford, played by Faye Dunaway, in the move "Mommy Dearest" when she screamed, "no wire hangers eh...verrrrrr," and for that fleeting moment I must drop my rating by one star. This was a great book and oddly, I saw a lot of myself in the main character. There was one part that took me back to 2nd grade when my mother gave me a pack of handkerchiefs as the Secret Santa gift. My, how I remember the embarrassment of that day...but I digress."In Love With A Younger Man" is a well written story that many of us "new 30" women can relate to. It tells the story of a 40 something single woman who realizes she has made work her man and when she decides to take a year-long sabatical she finds younger men swarming around. The twist at the end had me on the edge of my seat going "oh boy." I highly recommend this book and look forward to Cheryl Robinson's future work. less
