review 1: Amazing story about fatherhood (though I think mothers will appreciate it just as well). It's told in vignettes, and some are simply incredible. Others are less memorable (not that they're bad), and at times the author has a heavy handed McSweney's humor of "look how ironic I am applying existential thought to something that probably does not warrant it," but mostly the book is self aware and deals well with the humorous paradoxes of parenting.Really, you'll read it in a day, buy it.

... moreolutely loved it. It's a novel that I know I'll read again and possibly again, and again. Chris Bachelder has a new fan and that's me. His storytelling is darkly funny, metaphorical, sharp, and image filled. Abbott is complex and a likeable, unique, and imaginative character and he made so much sense to me that I never wanted the story to end. Abbott Awaits is definitely worth your time. less
