review 1: This book was so interesting, I learnt a lot about queen Elizabeth 1 and a lot about Robert Dudley but not so much about Amy. I think if you want to learn more about the Tudors or Elizabeth in general it's great! But if you want to learn about Amy's death and the mystery you might be slightly disappointed because most of the book focuses on relationships between Elizabeth and others and Robert Dudley and others rather than Amy. Luckily I was just reading for general interest. I enjoyed it lots and want to read & learn so much more about this queen!
review 2: I was really pleased with this book and enjoyed reading it. It is not for the feint of heart as it does have a lot of facts and figures. I actually quite enjoyed the reports on the household accounts and fo
... moreund it really informative. If you already are familiar with this time period and these circumstances you will not learn much in the way of new information, but you might add a few layers of detail to what you already know. There is no big revelation on the death of Amy Dudley, and only a couple of direct letters from her which were interesting to read. I have to say that I disagree with the author's assertion that William Cecil was not involved because he had nothing to gain via Amy's death. He had everything to gain, it discredited his biggest rival for influence over Queen Elizabeth. In any case, if you are a Tudor history buff, this is a nice book to add to your collection. less

Had thought it would be more in depth then it was. A little dry.
