review 1: Very interesting book. I realized that it took me a while to fish this book. However, I do appreciate all the research that Christina Dudley put into this book. I love reading the accurate information about the redwood trees and reading about the landscape of California. However, beyond that the story platue at towards the middle end of the book. I also felt like it ended a bit fast. This was the similar format of the other two books that I have read from this author. She quickly ended Ben's life, and moved on with other people's perspective. How Ben died, and why he died. Not much about his life dead with his beloved.
review 2: At first I wasn't sure what I had gotten myself into, considering I usually don't read ghost stories. However this one was thoroughly
... moreenjoyable. I expected it to be scary, but was pleased to find out that it wasn't. It is certainly one of the best mysteries I have read in a long time. I love that the story was based around Redwoods. (I love trees, very much like the characters in the book.) In my opinion this was more of a love story than a ghost story. The main character Ben has always been in love with trees, especially Redwoods, and this love for trees has given him the ability to communicate with a beautiful ghost, Daphne. The special bond that they share with the trees sparks their romance. I love how the author is able to juggle the romance between Ben and Daphne, as well as the mystery of Daphne's death way back in 1895. This is truly an incredible read, and I would reccommend it to anyone who enjoys a great mystery and romance combo. Just make sure you carve out a nice block of time to read it, because you will not want to put it down! less
