review 1: Die Nacht ist nur der Anfang ist mir auf Englisch ehrlich gesagt nie aufgefallen. Erst, als ich das Buch mit dem tollen Cover im Programm meines Lieblingsverlags entdeckt habe, war mir klar: Das will ich haben! Gesagt, getan und bei einem Besuch in der Buchhandlung nahm ich es mit.Der größte Konflikt im Buch dreht sich um Leah, die perfekt ist und das hat die Autorin uns auch mega unter die Nase gerieben. Perfekte Leah, perfektes Leben, perfekt, perfekt, PERFEKT. Natürlich ist Leah damit unglücklich, denn warum sollte man auch mit dem zufrieden sein, was man hat? Anstatt das Problem mal anzugehen oder den Mund aufzumachen, jammert unsere Protagonistin was das Zeug hält. Absolutes No-Go für mich ist auch immer, wenn diese ihren Freund hintergeht. Warum zur Hölle kann... more man nicht einfach sagen: Sorry, da gibt es jemand anderen, bye?! Ich meine, sicher ist das hart, aber man kann noch nicht wie eine missratene Göre auf den Gefühlen anderer herumtrappeln, nur, weil man selber keinen Bock mehr hat. Die gute Leah war mir also sehr unsympathisch, wie man erkennt.Das Buch an sich war mir auch einfach zu langweilig. Ich meine, Contemporary beschäftigt sich natürlich viel mit der echten Welt und dem Leben und all seinen Ups and Downs, aber etwas Lustiges oder Besonderes muss es schon geben, weil ich sonst rasch das Interesse verliere. Der Plot plätschert vor sich her, Leah tut nichts etc. Die Liebesgeschichte war auch ziemlich platt. Gesehen, getroffen, verliebt. Ende. Stereotypischer ging es einfach nicht. Warum also dann doch 2 Sterne = Ok? Der Schreibstil war angenehm und der Anfang des Romans ganz gut gemacht. Leider konnte ich dem Buch sonst nichts abgewinnen und ich würde es auch nicht empfehlen.
review 2: This book was a quick light read. I really liked the ending but I wasnt to crazy about the book as a whole. The characters were all good but I personally had a hard time connecting with them. I did however really love the descriptive writing style and thought the dialogue / description ratio was really well balanced! I hate to say anything harsh about a book because I really think authors put a lot of work into them but I really didnt believe a lot of what Leah was going through. I found it hard to understand her motives and harder to believe a family would be like this. None the less her and Duffy's story was cute and enjoyable for the most part! less
