review 1: I had high expectations for this book, so it had a lot to live up to. After listening to her audio book, I was interested in the story, not of the politics or the assassination, but in the marriage of these seemingly problem-less people under such unimaginable strain. Jackie endured the worst situations possible as a woman - the grief she felt in so many phases of her life is inconceivable. She earned my respect and deepest sympathy in this touching story.
review 2: My book club, in memory of JFK's assassination, planned to meet on November 22 and discuss books on the subject, and one of the books was definitely S. King's "11/22'63" which I really LOVED for so many reasons, but one was that it was fiction on the subject. That being said, the other books I r
... moreead for the project needed to be non-fiction, so this book "These Few Precious Days" was suggested to me by a person who performs books (Barbara Rinella), and I really enjoyed this………for most of the book. I really liked that it started with the meat of the story, the assassination day itself, and ended right up to that point. I appreciated the order. In other thing I appreciated was the amount of research and interviewing that was done --- as a result, the details are overwhelming ---- from reading this book, I came out with the attitude that JFK slept with every available girl that was in Washington (or among friends) --- but I also got the idea that the drugs he was taking for his Addison's disease might have been a major reason his libido could not be satisfied. Another idea from the book is the amount of drugs that his Dr. "Feelgood" gave to him and even Jackie (amphetamines, etc.) to keep them going --- Both of them being very fragile and private people, they had to muster all their energy to get through all the ceremonious work they were doing and were constantly tired (didn't blame them at all!) Both were very complex characters who were very alone together, and not until their son Patrick died, was there a real coming together. Before that, according to this book, Joe Kennedy paid Jackie 10 million dollars to stay with Jack …..there were more shockers, and I'm not sure if they were true, so don't need to put them here, but sufficeth it to say, there was a lot of info I hadn't heard before --- so this book of the ones I read, I would say was more the "gossip" read --- not sure it was all true, but if it was, oh my. Some I found corroborated in the next book I read, "Mrs. Kennedy and Me" by Clint Hill. But Mr. Hill is too much a gentleman to carry tales, like this one. less

There was nothing new in this book, just recycled material from other books the author has written.
