review 1: This one was a bit better than the first, in my opinion. The story was enjoyable and fun. It still suffered a lot of the same problems as the first one (generally being too predictable and having some things that didn't quite make sense). Mostly Tania's behavior didn't make a lot of sense to me given all the things that were said about how vampire's are "supposed" to behave and how Cade is the "abnormal" one. But it was a quick, fun read and pretty enjoyable if that is what you are looking for (which I typically am).
review 2: This is a super quick read and fun if you’re into vampires fighting zombie monsters, and monsters eating and killing people in zombie monster fashion (bloody and violently). There is a little political intrigue but it’s not elabor
... moreate: bad guy was leading the revolt so his group of cronies could take over the world. (I didn’t get why someone would want to be in charge of a world of monsters…which is what would happen since the monsters indiscriminately killed everyone thereby making more monsters, but hey, that’s just me.)I didn’t particularly like the good guys—the vampire, Cade, and his “handler” Zachary. Until the very end Cade didn’t seem to like anyone, and I’m not one who falls for the strong, silent, blood sucking types just ‘cause they’re strong, silent, and blood sucking. They need some personality. Zachary seemed useless. He didn’t have a personality either. I quickly got the impression I was missing some backstory and found out this was the second book in the series, but it’s fine as a stand-alone. The author puts enough in so you don’t wonder too much about what you missed. And seriously, there isn’t many plot points: bad guys make monsters, monsters kill people, vampire kills monsters. Good airplane reading. less

I listened to the audio books back to back...I wouldn't of if I didn't enjoy the book and reader.
