review 1: Good characters, interesting premise, and horrifying creatures - but, sloppily paced, particularly in the "present day" part of the story. Worst of all, towards the end, a character arrives with a massive infodump to explain the monsters. This would be bad enough, but the additional information makes the monsters less scary, because once we understand their motivations it takes all the air out of the story's stakes and raises far more questions (and plot problems) than it answers.
review 2: SNOWBLIND ranks among the very best of Christopher Golden's novels, alongside the much-lauded Strangewood, The Ferryman, and Wildwood Road for its evocation of fear, strangeness, and the real reactions of the average person in the face of the inexplicable. Golden manages a l
... morearge cast of characters without giving any of them short shrift--each has depth and complexity warranting his or her role in the novel. The town of Coventry seems very much a real place, and the storms it weathers come alive (in more than one way) with Golden's descriptive prose. It's easy to see why Hollywood has expressed interest in this property, given the opportunities for casting variety and the possibilities inherent in the premise. less

Eh. Not horror, not quite ghost story. Dull, two dimensional characters and too many of them.

Summer is the perfect time to read Snowblind, and preferably with people or a dog around.

A creepy ghost story set in a New England blizzard. Like Stephen King lite. I enjoyed it.

Great beginning, with an ending that couldn't live up to its earlier promise.

A nice little horror story.
