review 1: Wow! An excellent and well written historical approach to Tyson and the other poultry, pork, and beef industry giants. Encompasses interviews with farmers, small town people affected by the commercializations, industry people, and government officials. After reading "The Walmart Effect" I never set foot in Walmart on the mainland. After reading this I will be much more careful about the sources of the meat that I purchase.
review 2: An important--and terrifying--look at the economics of the meat industry. Well-researched and authoritative investigation into the practices of Tyson Foods, and how its practices have destroyed the family farm and created cheap but tasteless meat. That may be an overstatement, but this is a compelling account, with personal stories
... moreof the affected farmers to humanize the statistics. And, sadly, there may be no recourse for farmers or consumers. less

Fact based book about meat and chicken. It could have been summarized in less than 10 pages.

Well-written, and thought provoking. I'll be telling everyone I know to read this one.
