review 1: This is exactly what good science fiction is meant to do: make the reader think in new ways about the world we live in. This new book is related to all of priest's dream archipelago work but is also quite accessible as a stand alone novel. I would recommend to anyone interested in priest and good sf in general, although priest afficianados will especially love its dreamlike atmosphere and reluctance to tie things together in a neat package.
review 2: While set in a sci-fi universe (parallel realities intertwined by a mysterious quantum weapon which creates shortcuts between them as side effect), this book is actually a love story, where the same characters (with slightly different names) are connected in the each of the realities. Even though it is beautifully ... morewritten, the book lacks a proper plot and an actual conclusion, so if you are expecting each of the parallel stories to wrap up in the end, then this book is not for you. less
