review 1: Loved the intent of the book, but I would have liked a deeper dive into Mormon/Non-Mormon culture conflicts. From listening to blogs where the author was interviewed, I think she consciously steered the material into non-controversial areas. The lighter side of Mormon/Non-Mormon relations are humorously described.While I admire the author's ability to look at the bright side, this book really gives no meaningful guidance on some of the more difficult and painful situations that can arise for Non-Mormons in Utah County. I have lived in Utah County for thirty years ans even as an active Mormon the culture can be annoying. I can't even imaging some of the deep hurt that many have felt attempting to interact with the Mormon culture here.But instead of a deep psychological tra... morein ride, I felt more like I was watching the original "Singles Ward" movie.By the way, this is is no way an anti-Mormon book. Mutual respect is demonstrated throughout. All ages appropriate, and probably recommended for young Utah County Mormons just to awaken them to the idea that all people should be treated with respect.
review 2: I was most intrigued by the premise of this book and so after hearing a friend talk about it I immediately picked it up and read it. It is a quick read, I read it in perhaps an hour to hour and a half and it was a good. I enjoyed hearing someone else's outlook on living in Utah, someone who is not part of the 'main' culture. I appreciated her understanding and her honesty. I laughed at some of her experiences and other stories made me think about how I act. A great read, don't miss the opportunity to pick up this book. less
