review 1: Trust me, I really love Palahniuk's work, I have read Fight Club, Lullaby, Zombie, Cannibal and I've loved some and really enjoyed others. But, this didn't do it for me. It was fun, lite, and short but it doesn't have that ''deeper meaning'' or ''social commentary'' I'm accustomed to see in Palahniuk's work. Yes, it throws some shots at consumerism and the concept of Christmas and ''Santa's gifts'' in general, but, I didn't grab me like other short stories from him. It's not bad, but I don't know maybe I'm underwhelmed since I really loved everything I've read from him. 2.5 stars to be exact.
review 2: In this short story, Chuck Palahniuk just grasped the whole idea of 'holiday classics' with his bare, callused hands and gave a rather twist on it the Palahniuk
... more way. Not only was it refreshing to read something new and completely out of the stereotype, but also the story was equally humorous. Although I gotta admit, I was left feeling baffled in the end, hence the lack of one star, since I wasn't really that much familiar with what the true meaning of Christmas for Jews is.But if you're on the mood to read something that takes a complete detour from the holiday classics and short stories you and your grandma read while waiting for the clock to strike twelve, give this one a shot. You might end up liking it as much as I do.Anyway, happy holidays, fellow readers/geeks/nerds! less

Demented and heart-warming. Exactly what you want from a bizzaro holiday story.

Not one of Chuck's best, but it does have his distinctive voice.

Chuck is one of my favorites, but this didn't do it for me.
