review 1: I love the book. C.J. is an amazing writer! Wanting to read all her books if they are as great a book as Rockaholic. I can relate to the author on her musical taste,we both love the same bands. C.J. and I are true rockoholics. Never thought I would fall in love with a book, but I did with Rockoholic. I would even recomend this to people I hated, because it is such a fantastic book. Wish she would make a second!
review 2: What is it with young adult novels having great intros and then turning into ... this?My problems with this novel:- The characters are achingly stupid. I mean, beyond believable stupid. Teenagers are not this stupid. Stupid teenagers are not this stupid.- Character growth is haphazard and clunky.- The scenario is so beyond suspending-your-disbe
... morelief.- The main character appears to be celebrated for a number of terrible things she does. ("I scream at adults who have to deal with things I can't even imagine, break all my mum's stuff and then shrug it all off because it's totally punk and what my grand-dad would've wanted and force other people to deal with my messes! Oh, and I'm a god-awful employee, but that's okay, right? The other employees are just bitches because they won't let me cut out early every single day! Bitches!")- The writing is monotonous and bland.- The relationship is dysfunctional, but never addressed as dysfunctional. ("We lie to each other because we're testing each other!" "I love you Jody, even though I basically have to take care of you as if you're a child!")(Also, this is one of those books that people say is "funny". Usually that means it's not. Which is the case here. I think it's "laugh track" funny as in the only way I could know what was supposed to be funny were if canned laughter played after the supposed "humor". As it stands, I don't understand what people were laughing at.) less

Wonder how was Jackson after he left. A cliff-hanger about that cherry blossom for me.
