review 1: I had been looking forward to getting this far into the series because it was released that something major would happen in this book—Sang’s first kiss!Push and Shove had a nice balance of things—action, suspense, mystery, and romance. Yes—we actually get some romance! The boys and Sang are still working towards some mysteries that are plaguing Ashley Waters—the Vice Principal is still missing, the Principal is still hovering, Mr. Blackbourne is still the target of an unidentified bomber, and Sang and the boys are still trying to figure out the identify of the masked man who warned her against the boys. Add in the fact that Nathan’s abusive father makes and appearance and Sang is starting to cave into the boys’ affections, and you’ve got yourself and extrem... moreely engaging book. I literally could not put it down if I wanted to—there was so much at stake in this book it wasn’t even funny. As I mentioned, Sang gets her first kiss in this book! I’m not going to say who, but it was just as deliciously awesome as I was expecting. It literally made me giddy. I am really interested to see which of her first kisses will be my favorite, and I definitely think that this one will give the others a run for their money! Moreover with the boys, we see more of Dr. Green and Mr. Blackbourne. I thought that this was especially great because they seem to have been in the background as compared to the other guys, and I loved seeing more of their characters in this installment.Push and Shove was definitely my favorite installment thus far romance-wise. It opened some new doors, both romantically and with regards to plot and action, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
review 2: I started this series with a seed of doubt and a bunch of reviews telling me not to. A friend told me it would basically ruin my life. I've figured it out though and this review isn't so much about the book but more about the series as it stands at this moment. These books are for all of the lonely hearts out there that hold onto the hope that all it takes is one person to reach out and suddenly, you have everything that you need and people that finally understand. Sang has been deprived all of the love and affection that most people grow up with and when Kota reaches out in the first book, he is opening the door to having friends and being in a real family. It gives you hope that even the most damaged of us can still bounce back as long as we have support and people that care. We, as readers, are willing to ignore the cliched characters and the slow (glacial) romances that are building because I believe that many of us see ourselves in Sang just a little bit and are hoping that someone will reach out to us and we are hoping that that's all it will take. These characters that C.L. Stone have created are unrealistic in so many ways. A guy who is 20 is a doctor. All the boys are willing to share and cooperate when it comes to Sang. But she has also captured this part of human nature that craves to be around people like you and wants approval, affection, and a sense of belonging to something or someone. She has given that to all of these lost boys and given it to Sang as well.So despite the silliness of the books in general, they still speak and I'll still read them and love them. less
