review 1: This is a very light summer read. I read it in about 3 hours. There were a few flaws that irritated me during the book. A good editor would have been able to fix them. 1. Lucy called her place once an apartment. The rest of the time a condo. They are not the same thing.2. Lucy wanted to do the race and prove she can stick do any goal she set her mind on, except she just got her Ph.d. That is not the easiest thing in the world. It is way harder than just running a race. Also there is no way she just spent 7 years (undergrad and Ph.d) in school. Most undergrads are 4-5 years (some students do get it done in 3 but it is rare) and a Ph.d is a min of 3 years and then however long it takes one to research and write, it isn't unheard of taking 8 to 10 years to finish. I would hav... moree believed it she was a bit older and it took a few more years.3. Lucy is too young to have watched Melrose Place. I'm older by a few years and I was barely old enough to have watched it when it was new. 4. An home inspection is done usually by the buyers not the sellers (Sellers can do a home inspection prior to listing their place but rarely do that.) Lucy and Paul couldn't be their for the inspection. Their agent would have to let the home inspector in but since the buyer is paying for the inspection the sellers have no right to be there. If these problems were caught or at least researched better, I think I would like this book a bit more. Was it enjoyable? Yes, but it is hardly worth more than the $.99 I paid for it.
review 2: Claire Matthews is a great writer. She writes very smart and personable characters so why does she have to pander down by trying to be way too snarky and trashy? For really educated characters, I felt the maturity level was low and they cussed way too much. However, I loved the characters of Will, Jen and Lucy. They all did seem very real like people I would hang out with. I'm enjoying the story (still reading it) but hope her next novel takes out the trash talk. Its unnecessary. less

Not bad for $1 chick-lit...I wish it was a little longer
