review 1: One goal consumes Chazma Donnelly: find the dark sorcerer who murdered her parents. When the trail leads her to Ireland, she takes a job cataloging a private library. But she doesn’t expect to find a manor house that eerily echoes one in her dreams, or an employer whose touch awakens a savage darkness in her.The attraction between Chaz and Jethro McBain is volatile, but darkness surrounds his aura. Chaz doesn’t trust him, even though it is his voice she hears in her sleep, and his touch that sizzles the blood in her veins. As Chazma’s investigation widens, a series of local murders shows the killer knows of her obsession. Will Chaz’s need for revenge take her from the edge of evil into a black pit where she can no longer find herself? Or can she find love in the midst... more of darkness? My Review - I am one to usually judge a book by its cover which I know you shouldn't do. BUT by saying that I'll say this...I should have known by the cover of this book that it wouldn't be my thing. I use to make myself try and try books but then I realized life is to short and there are to many books for me to force myself through a book when I'm not liking it. I use to give 50 pages for a book to lock me in and now it's 25. I gave this book 25 pages and it wasn't for me. Sorry. :(
review 2: This book could have been good had half of it not been the main character, Chazma, asking herself about a million and one questions. Often it was the same question just worded slightly different. The loving relationship between Jethro and Chaz just came out of left field. It went from "I don't trust you and you may be my parents' murderer" to "I'll love you in this life and into the next". The major conflicts were resolved with a wah-wah-wah. Reading this story made prepping and canning fifty pounds of tomatoes look like a rollicking game of silly-string tag. My six year old's story of the barn cats using his pile of sand as a litter box was a welcomed interruption from this book and seemed absolutely riveting by comparison. Going to the DMV sounded not only like a good time, but absolutely vital. There were about 99 other things that kept pulling me away from this book. It never got, nor deserved, my undivided attention. To end on a positive... There were very few spelling or grammar errors. less
