review 1: I think this book is the weakest book in the trilogy. I found the first portion of the book frustrating because it seemed to be one setback after another - the bad guys seemed to be ten steps ahead of the good guys in every way. Overall, I found this installment to be less engaging than its predecessor, though I did enjoy Greyfriar's rescue of Adele from the altar (he has indeed read too many dramatic romance novels). However, the next book is a lot more fun and action-packed, so if you've made it this far, I suggest you keep reading!
review 2: ooh~ This is so exciting, I just finished this book like one second ago! Maybe there might be little spoilers... All I can say is so much has changed by the end of the book I can't imagine what will happen next. It's ... morenot looking good for the humans at all! That sneaky Cesare has really made a force that nobody would've ever thought any vampire could pull off plus I can't imagine what priceless secrets that witch hunter has uncovered. The thing that kept nagging at me was, why aren't the undead flocks noticing that none of their people who have died are coming back as vampires yet?... Oh yea, I can't believe the Greyfriar let that she-devil get away again, and what the heck was Mamoru doing? I just love Colonel Anhalt, I'm still waiting for Adele to tell him how much she appreciates him and how much he means to her. Adele is getting better but still has her spoiled brat moments and she stands up for what she believes is right. I'm sure somehow all of this will eventually end well for the empire and Gareth. less
