review 1: My friend Ana bought me this book as a gift earlier this year because I love cats. It's a re-imagining of Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis as a work of fantasy/gonzo literature. Unfortunately I just couldn't get into it and found it a little bit annoying (sorry Ana!). Maybe I couldn't get into because I haven't read the original novel. But I really didn't get the point. The protagonist was very annoying and seemed like a rather large unattractive cat. It starts with a potentially amusing idea, but then completely fails to develop it in any of the ways that would actually make it amusing. I still love cats, but not this book nor the author Coleridge Cook.
review 2: Troppo noioso...Forse,non conoscendo Kafka,questo libro non l'ho capito... Questo povero commesso v... moreiaggiatore odiato dalla famiglia quando era uomo, è ancora più odiato da gatto;la società dei felini,con il suo tribunale,mi sembra alquanto esagerata perchè non credo proprio,avendo due gatte, che i mici possano essere così infastiditi da tutto quello che facciamo loro noi padroni. Forse è vero che il gatto in sè è un po' egoista,ma così mi sembra davvero inverosimile! Poi sembra anche che alla famiglia non gliene freghi proprio nulla del fatto che questo poveretto si sia risvegliato gatto e,soprattutto,mi sarebbe piaciuto sapere il perchè questo sia successo. C'è però una bella citazione nel libro fatta dal filosofo del tribunale felino:"...al mondo ci sono bestie che sembrano uomini e uomini che sembrano bestie..." (come non dargli ragione!) less
