review 1: Hopefully the cover should tell you more or less what type of book you're reading before you open it. It's very light (as opposed to serious), colorful (beautiful watercolors by Colleen Coover) and full of 60s/70s superhero/caper goodness. Bandette is a part Lupin III, part Sherlock Holmes, part Robin Hood. Some people might be put off by the too-clever-for-its-own-good tone or the lack of serious tension, but I found it hilarious and if you want something to put you in a good mood, I'd highly recommend this book.
review 2: Insanely adorable! It was a quick fun read and full of whimsical characters you can't help but laugh at. I grabbed this at random from the library because the art reminded me of the Madeline cartoons and books. The style, I don't know what i
... moret is about the style, just screams upbeat and quirky. Bandette is such a precious heroine. I did get a little confused about who the target audience for this is. Take out the little bit of cursing and it's a great kids book. However, with the cursing in it seems like you might as well go 100% teen and ramp up the edge a bit instead of sticking with the plays on words and 'gosh darn it' type dialogue. Anywho - really enjoyed it. Would recommend it less
