review 1: Harpies.... hmmm... Well, I must admit, harpies are so different from the usual paranormal and supernatural types so far....Avery picks up a shell on a beach in California , one day.... Little did she realize that the it was a powerful amulet which contained the magic of a Harpy.... The amulet shatters, and somehow , the magic in it clings to Avery, the nearest living thing.... Soon Avery is pulled into the world of Harpy conflict, where the motives and past of everyone around are not always clear... I liked it that even though she liked Mason (a Harpy!), she backed-off when she realized that he was engaged....But there were certain things in the story that seriously irked me... Like the fact that, Avery suddenly runs off from school.... And , they don't seem to bother as... more much... She tells her mother that there wanted to "get away from the too much drama at school", and her mother just accepts it???? Ya right!Or that, she just goes to brother's house one fine day... Gives virtually no explanation for the fact that she has run away from school.... No explanation for the boy who suddenly comes to her brother's house asking for her.... And he just lets it go???? Just like that !!!! Aside from those , this was a fun , quick read book. review 2: Ughhhh. I don't know. I got REALLY bored reading this book, to the point that I don't even want to know what will happen in the end. (I usually look up the ending if I think its a waste of time) Well, IT REALLY IS.I totally hated Mason. I mean, I tried to look into him, to understand him. Reading the book, giving chances of how Mason will prove himself a jerk that he is (well i see him that way) and have this nasty remarks on the main girl with having his fiancé all along! -____- *yeey for those who hate a 2cake-faced person* I don't like the paranormal stuff all along. with band of thieves and such, ughh. Hmm. I don't think it will get better in the succeeding chapters, so I gave up on it. less
