review 1: This is a fun rhyme book about what it is like for pirates to go to school. They take their parrots to school with them and the parrots constantly mimic what the pirates say. The other students like the pirates and think they are cool but the pirates are rambunctious, smelly, and use skills to help them learn math! Even though the pirate kids seem so different they really are very similar to the other kids. The pirates go to school and take part in normal, everyday activities. They love show and tell, making art out of clay, and sit quietly during story time. This story tells that even pirate children go to school and they love it!
review 2: Pirates Go To School is an absolutely adorable rhyme book about what a pirate looks like going to school. When pirate
... mores walk into school, they greet their teacher...and so does their parrot. They hang their book bags and swords on the coatrack, and then they are seated for math where they count skulls! Warning: do no sit too close to pirates! They smell like rotten fish! Pirates paint cannonballs and bring cool, old stuff to show-and-tell. They even snore at naptime! At recess, they play walk the plank and get yelled at when they swear. Pirates tell some awesome stories, and they just love school!Pirates Go To School is a book for young readers, primarily pre-k through 2nd grade. The fanciful outfits of the pirate life will draw the young reader in, and the sing-song rhyme of the book will hold their attention. The funny ideas of walking the plank at recess, eating squid, and loudly snoring will captivate young students throughout the book. I would implement this book during the first week of school. It would be a part of welcoming the students to the new classroom and inviting them to feel a part of our homeroom. I would also implement this book if we got new pirate dress up cloths in the dramatic play center. The book would be enjoyable and could lead to further exploration in the dramatic play centers. less
