review 1: In the beginning of this book, I was not sure whether I'd like it or not. Then I got a little further and it seemed to be heading up. I liked the dialogues, how the characters were written and the simplicity of it. Then towards the middle and til the end it was all downhill. Maybe a few good sentences here and there, but nothing big enough to keep me interested in the story. I'm dissapointed, because at one point I thought I actually might have found a book I enjoyed, then it proved me wrong after a few more pages. I wanted to give this four stars at one point, but since I thought half of this book, at least, was not very interesting at all, I'm gonna go with two. Because that is exactly what this book was: not good, not bad, but just ok.
review 2: Sigh. I wan
... moreted to love this book. Parts of it were quite exciting, action-packed. But it was just too busy. Dual narrators could have been quite compelling. Except neither of them seemed quite believable (or likeable). And there were so many flashbacks, I frequently had to stop and reread to make sure I knew "when" things were taking place. The story bookends nicely, though, with the epic "lost in the woods" moments at the novel's end and beginning. I liked the narrators' connections to the greyhounds -- although that too seemed a bit contrived, like an afterthought to maybe make the narrators more humane. Even the love triangle lacked credibility. Overall, this was not the worst book I've ever read. There was just too much going on. Thankfully, I received this book via giveaway. less

This book does not rate 4 stars, but there is no half-star rating. 3.5 is a more accurate rating.

The writing style clashed so badly with the story line that I simply couldn't finish it.

This one is ripping me apart. Davidson can really spin a heart wrenching tale
